CHARBONO
Charbono, or Douce Noire as it is known in France, is a rare variety in California: only 88 acres were planted as of 2008, half of them in the Napa Valley. We buy Charbono grapes from the Shypoke vineyard, just a couple miles north from Casa Nuestra. Our fresh and youthful Charbono is choke-full of juicy blackberries and dark cherries, with a hint of herbs and dry tobacco leaves. It has a medium body, soft tannins and a pleasant acidity, which makes it a great food companion. Try our Charbono with grilled lamb or seared beef, or the traditional Italian fishermen stew, cioppino!
